​CRITICAL PETITION PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS
​FOR ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE GATHERING PETITION:
Step 1: Check Your Voter Status
Step 2: Print & Sign Both Initiatives
GO TO A LOCAL PRINT SHOP PLEASE!
  • Each voter can expect to pay about $1.50 total to print and mail one of each petition back to us! The cost is far cheaper when printing and mailing multiple sets of petitions together, so please consider sharing these costs with other CA registered voters.
  • ​Keep in mind that both petitions have specific formatting needs and it is best to make sure we get them printed correctly as each pdf file is in a legal format that both petitions must be in for them to count!
  • Home printing is not recommended and print shop printers must get it right before you pay if you give them these parameters!

A) Printing Instructions for 8.5″x14″ Electronic Signature Gathering Petitions
For your signed petitions to be counted as valid you must follow these very specific printing guidelines. The last thing we want is for signed petitions to be thrown out because they were printed incorrectly.

Common Mistakes To Avoid
  • Do NOT staple two sheets together. Print double sided with the page flipping along the long edge like a book page turns.
  • Do NOT shrink the margins to fit the printer. Make sure the printer can print the required margins.  
  • Do NOT print the jpeg images of the petition. Download the PDF and then print it.
  • Do NOT let any of the text get cut off by your printer.
If you shrink the text or scale down the size, your petition will be invalid. The text is a very specific size. 
ADDITIONAL Requirements
  • 8.5″x14″ legal size 20# paper only! (Do not shrink pdf file image to fit on 8.5X11 it won't count!)
  • Print double sided. DO NOT STAPLE TWO SHEETS TOGETHER.
  • Print both pages on one sheet front to back
  • Print in black and white only
  • All text must be clear and readable
  • Make sure the printer can print with the proper 1" top margins and 1/4″ side and bottom margins
  • Use the exact margins set for the PDF type you’re printing
  • Download the PDF before printing
  • NOTE – Most printers can only print with 1/4″ margins – Check that you are printing it correctly! 
  • Print at custom scale: 100
After Printing
  • Measure the margins with a ruler once printed. Make sure they’re right!
  • Check that there is no text that got cut off
B) Printing Instructions for 11″x17″ Internet Voting petition
  • Printing instructions are the same, only the 4 page pdf format will print the first two pages on one side of the full sheet of paper and when the second two pages are printed on the back. Same margins, white paper, black and white printing only!
  • The entire petition can be folded in half to form a 4 page booklet style petition that starts with page 1 on the cover, then page 2 and 3 on the inside pages, and then ends with page 4, which is the signature page, on the back. Each page, once the petition is folded in half, is 8.5"X11" when complete!
  • Remember each petition is only good for one registered voter to sign and requires only that registered voters legal county of residence to be written on it. In California it is also legal for each registered voter to act as their own circulator so we can each individually sign and complete the declaration of circulator section as the as well for our own petition. This means if you are not signing in the presence of a circulator who signs as a witness, that each registered CA voter completing their own petition, must fill out both sections on the petition.
